Coffee, meet donuts

Coffee and donuts: a simple pair for your morning, right here at our coffee shop in Mesa, Arizona.

Thinking about what to choose? Start with whether you want a drink, something sweet, or both. Coffee can bring bitterness and aroma to the pairing, while a donut adds sweetness and texture. Your own preferences matter more than any pairing rule.

How it all started

It started with Jake liking coffee

Jake liked coffee and thought running a shop would be fun. That idea became Coffee & Cream, a coffee shop in Mesa, Arizona. Come by for coffee and donuts when you're in the neighborhood.

Sometimes the beginning of a business is a straightforward personal interest rather than a complicated plan. Here, that beginning was an enjoyment of coffee and the appeal of running a shop. Our Story introduces that starting point; the Menu and Visit pages help with the practical side of getting to know Coffee & Cream.

Getting to know your coffee

Aroma first, then a sip

You don’t need specialist vocabulary to notice what you enjoy in coffee. Let a hot cup cool to a comfortable temperature, notice its aroma, and take a small sip. Think about whether it feels light or full, tastes more bitter or bright, and leaves a flavor you like. These are general ways to explore coffee, not tasting notes for a particular drink at the shop.

Our story

A morning pairing

Find the balance you enjoy

When pairing coffee with something sweet, try a sip before a bite and another afterward. Sweetness can change how you perceive a drink’s bitterness, and the contrast may make different flavors stand out. There’s no need to find a perfect match: a pairing is useful only if you enjoy it. This is a simple tasting exercise you can try with coffee and donuts, without needing a formal tasting guide.

Questions before a visit

Your preferences are a good starting point

If you prefer decaffeinated coffee, a particular milk, or a specific preparation, ask about the options before making plans around them. Coffee names and recipes can differ between shops. Describing what you enjoy—such as a smaller drink or less sweetness—can make a question clearer than relying on a drink name alone.

A few things to know

Make your enquiry useful to you

Ingredients and dietary needs

For allergies or dietary requirements, ask about the specific item and relevant preparation details. A product name or photograph cannot establish whether something is suitable for you.

Comfort and access

If parking, step-free access, seating or other facilities affect your visit, include your particular question in the contact form before setting out.

Plans involving other people

If you’re thinking about coffee or donuts for several people, explain what you have in mind and ask what is possible. Sending an enquiry is not an order confirmation.

A moment in the morning

Our story

A coffee break can be as simple as putting one thing down, taking a comfortable sip, and noticing what you enjoy.

Whether coffee is part of a familiar routine or an occasional treat, there’s no special way you need to approach it. Give hot drinks time to cool, choose according to your tastes, and let curiosity be enough. If you’re exploring something unfamiliar, one clear question can be more helpful than knowing every term on a coffee menu.
